By Stephen Ur –

The Philadelphia 76ers hosted the Houston Rockets at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, PA on Monday night. James Harden was going against his former team as he played in Houston from 2012 to 2021 before being traded to the Brooklyn Nets.

This was the fifth time he’s faced the Rockets since requesting a trade at the beginning of the 2020-2021 season.

He would lead the Sixers against his former team, scoring 28 points, shooting 9 of 18 from the floor and 4 of 9 from three as the Sixers defeated the Rockets, 123-104. Joel Embiid added 23 points of his own in the victory.

Tyrese Maxey scored 26 points coming off the bench for Philadelphia. He shot 10 of 16 from the floor and 4 of 8 from three.

The win for the 76ers is their third in a row while the loss for Houston is their sixth in a row. They own the worst record in the NBA as they fall to 13-44 with the loss tonight.

Both teams will wrap up the first half of their respective seasons on Wednesday. The 76ers will host the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Rockets travel to take on the Oklahoma City Thunder.
