The Boston Celtics hosted the Philadelphia 76ers at TD Garden in Boston, MA on Wednesday night. Malcolm Brogdon came into the game with 15 consecutive games of 10+ points, spanning from Jan. 3 – Feb. 6. He is also averaging a career-high 45 percent from three.
Tatum came into the game leading the NBA with 47 20-point games and third with 30 30-point games.
Philadelphia was coming off a loss at Madison Square Garden against the New York Knicks on Monday. The loss snapped their eight-game win road streak, which was then the longest in the NBA this season.
Despite the loss, Joel Embiid extended his streak of 25-point, 10-rebound games to six, the longest active streak and the third-longest in the league this season.
Boston was also without Robert Williams III, Al Horford and Marcus Smart in this game, and it was Brogdon, along with Derrick White, who both scored 19 points each, who led the Celtics to a 106-99 victory over the Sixers.
Jayson Tatum added 12 points of his own along with nine rebounds and eight assist. Blake Griffin, who Boston acquired in the off-season, made five three-pointers, equaling a season-high 15 points for him.
Embiid extended his streak of 25+ points to seven games as he scored 28 points. James Harden scored 26 points and added 11 assists. The loss for Philadelphia is their second consecutive after winning nine of their last 11 prior.
Both teams have Thursday off before hosting games on Friday. The Sixers will host the New York Knicks while the Celtics will face off against the Charlotte Hornets.
